i missed this craft fair last year but not this year... Renegade Craft Fair is happening this weekend! it's going to be a chill weekend and i can't wait to indulge in some crafty goodness.

Baby News!

there's been a lot happening around here the last few months so i have a bunch of stuff to blog... some weddings, fun purchases from flea markets + craft fairs and a couple crave shoots.

but the big news is that we're having a baby! we found out in february and life hasn't been the same. in a good way of course. we kept the good news from our family and friends until we got to 12 weeks. it was nice to have that time for ourselves to process the whole life changing experience we're about to have. there were plenty of times i just wanted to blurt it out but somehow controlled myself. i thought for sure my mom would just know by looking at me, like it was written all over my face. by the time we shared the good news everyone was so excited for us!

so far things have been super. i didn't get any morning sickness and no crazy cravings, the only thing was that i wanted to tap naps. every. afternoon. the sleepy part has gone away but i still don't have that BURST of energy like they say you should have in the second trimester. i can't believe that as of last week we're already half way there (due date is mid october). and to top it off we found out we'll be having... a GIRL! we thought for sure we'd hold out and not find out the sex, you know, the ultimate surprise. however, as the days got closer to the ultrasound appointment we decided we had to know. seeing her on the monitor during the ultrasound was a trip! her little legs were kicking around and arms moving... she was pretty active. i still haven't felt her moving around but i'm sure that won't be too far away.

as for business stuff... my last wedding is in august then i'll be taking time off. i've started to get inquires for weddings in 2010 as well so let's talk if you're interested! if you want to book a lifestyle portrait session before end of august send an email.

my friend's film D-TOUR is screening at this year's san francisco international film festival. we're going to the friday screening where jim will be doing a Q&A and possibly a performance by the band. go see the film if you can.

Happy 2009!

happy new year! wow... we're in 2009.

the two weeks around the holidays were a whirlwind. i'm finally recovering from parties, family get togethers, getting orders out the door and wrapping up '08. i hope to catch up blogging weddings from last year, the workshop, some near gear and lots of photos.

last year i wrote down some goals and it was good to look back at that list... seeing what was accomplished and what's staying on the list for this year. i do have some "resolutions" this year but the big one is to exercise more. another big one was getting organized. with lots of motivation and help from julia we did a bunch of organizing and redecorating at our home. we barely got to the office before we had to put a hold on things for the holidays but i'm looking forward to starting back up.

my favorite room so far is the craft room! we have a back closet room that slowly turned into a place where the hamper lived, we stored our bikes, an overflow of clothes/coats we didn't wear and other random storage. this was the room that started the whole process, julia had the idea of converting it to be something more useful of a space and it became the craft room. a place where i could keep all my crafty stuff in one place and be easily accessible. i love that i can keep the sewing machine out and use it whenever i want and i love glancing over to see lots of fabric ready to be used. the first project was sewing some curtains for the room. i'm looking forward to spending more time in this room in the new year!

today we're hosting christmas eve at our place for with some family and friends. we have some last minute cleaning to do then we're ready for company. tomorrow we're off to sacramento to see all of the hutcheon side for christmas.

we saw this window display in someone's home while walking around during an engagment shoot. we stopped to see the lion sporting the "obama" head band and if you look close you can see the tiger with the same one on.

Clean Up!

we've been doing a bit of cleaning and de-cluttering at our place. it seems that the more space and closets we have the more we tend to fill it up. my friend julia prompted this big project and has been a huge help! alec gave the ok but he needed to go through his stuff on his own and he's been good about purging junk.

by the end of sunday we've made major progress! in the past week or so we've filled a HUGE bag full of old paperwork to take to the shredding company, made a couple drop offs to salvation army and got everything organized into clear bins. plus we're doing a little bit of feng shui too so i've sold stuff on craigslist. it feels great to be free of all the clutter, old bills and junk!

it makes it easier to have someone there with you to really make some decisions... julia has been pretty good with enforcing the "keep or toss" flow of things. i've watched plenty of clean house and it's a lot harder than i thought to get rid of stuff.

here's just a small stack of bins with things all organized and labeled before going into the closet. the "before" picture would just give you a headache. stay tuned for more before/after photos as we start to paint and decorate.
